Loving this games options.
I have pretty much accidentally build a frost witch this time around, more or less because I found frosty stuff on this run through.
I worked up the defensive side of the tree first, relying on the levelling up of skill gems to provide the bulk of my damage for the first few levels.
Working up the energy shield is nice because it comes back so fast after a couple seconds of not taking damage.
Going to heavily focus on the shield as my main defensive tactic.
Also found a gem that goes in my shield "Tempest Shield" that does 9-13 lightnening damage whenever I block an attack.
Works out well. For large groups of mobs I can often freeze half of them taking them out of commission long enough to wipe out a bunch of the group.
It's been a lot of fun to play so far, and a rather unplanned build.

my witch (lvl 29, atm) is primarily focused on minions and fire spells. firestorm plus minions tanking for me seems to take most crap out pretty quickly.

So I've backed off of the frost witch for solo play.
It was fun, but I was finding that into act 3 it was just way more useful to have minions take the hits for me.
So now I use a lot of lightning (Arc is awesome)
and I run with a host of Zombies, Skeletons and one Spectre.
Spectre is great as it lets you animate a spectre version of any enemy you kill. So I try to pick up any casters that I kill as spectres so they can hang back with me and range things down, or curse the mobs that are being engaged by the undead army.
Definitely good times at level 34 now
Ashelle
I plan on spending the next few points into increasing minion health and increase my number of spectres by 1 as they are so damned handy.

Good to know on the minions at higher levels. Guess I will continue to pump them up on my solo Templar. Almost level 20.

Every once in a while I also hop into the public parties. They are set up very well and are great for getting through an area or just for some wild visuals
Though I'm thinking they could scale up the difficulty a bit more for the larger groups...

I thought that Wednesday. Mine was the only death. Not a typical Defenders night.

On to cruel difficulty now. Back on the beach, washed up on the shore. Only this time I have more than threadbare clothes. This time I have an army of undead at my disposal

Wow, once on Cruel the gem options just keep getting wilder.
I'm constantly moving things around to tweak things out.
Fun stuff!

What level does it ramp up? Level cap is 100 but you start replaying at a higher difficulty earlier than that?
