re: Age of Discovery

Launches Tuesday bringing a host of new features along with the Beastmaster ... If you have an Alt you wanted to lvl ,this would also be a good time as there will low lvl groups everywhere..Or if you ever wanted to try EQ2 but felt behind the curve this is a good oppurtunity ...
With its promise of new features rather than new content, EverQuest II’s eighth expansion has the makings of an atypical release. EverQuest II: Age of Discovery is touted to have:
Beastlords — The most frequently requested feature of EQ1 arrives with the Beastlord class. The 25th class will wear Brawler equipment but otherwise have an archetype of Scout. Will have a separate AA tree for their pet.
Mercenaries — NPCs which can be hired to assist in questing, groups, and raids
Tradeskill Apprentices — Little is known about these, but they use a new crafting table type and offer unique new recipes.
Design Your Own Dungeon — Based on an updated version of the housing system, players can build dungeons using existing Zone styles, placing Items and Mobs picked up from around Norrath. They can then publish their Dungeon for others to play *using avatar NPCs* (you may not use your own character to run a DYOD). Rewards include gear for your main character, or items which can be used to build your own Design Your Own Dungeons.
Item Reforging — Reshuffle some (but not all) of the stats on your items. You’ll also gain an in-game Particle Effect editor.

BEASTLORDS! Damn! I may just have to bite the bullet.
I decided to go for it. I love EQ2 and the idea of Beastlords is awesome. And rolling a new character as a Beastlord will let me relearn the game and see how they play.

Game is updated. Did log in the other night to see if I had a slot for a new character. Was not surprised to see I did not have a slot. Deleted a character I had not played much and felt I would not play much going forward. So I am all set to create a noob BeastLord when the expansion hits. I really do need to empty my bank a bit as I have way too much stuff. Especially crafting material. Going to see if I can get some moved over to alts.

link to all the new quests and craftables.
Also..if anyone has a lvl 90, my defiler can make the thurgadin and rygorr armor which is a bit better than the PQ stuff. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll show you your class specific set.
Oh..and beastlords will be the huntards of EQ2

I hate waiting. Been reading up on Beastlords. Now I am really looking forward to playing one. Chain armor and a pet. How freaking kick ass is that? You can also tame just about anything. I could have a freaking cow as my Warder. What could strike fear into an opponent more than a Kerra(catman) charging at them with a cow at his side? Come on admit even thinking of that makes you shiver. You heard right Relinna. I will be coming at you with a big cow. What do you think of the 'huntards of WoW' now?
Only issue I can see with AoD is the fact the servers are going to be hammered and the starter zones overrun. Bad combination with new expansion and move to F2P.

Nothing like seeing a cat running at you with a mad cow...that's priceless and screenshot worthy!
As for the huntards...there will be some for sure. The ones that get PLed to 90 in a week and then trying to learn a class they didn't learn to play if they had actually done it the right way. And yes...I'm sure you'll be able to trip over all the new beastlords that are going to be made. =/ I might make one but maybe after the initial wave dies down. I had a beastlord in eq1 and it was alot of fun. I can't remember if they could heal tho. I might be confusing it with the eq1 shaman. They were both barbs.
Anyhoo...I hope you get your launcher fixed..maybe Dizz can help you hack it into working!

Played for about three hours last night. Darkstryder is now level 15. Still pretty awesome to play. Need to learn more about the different pets and what they are best for. Used the cat at first but have been using the Wildboar I got with the CE. Downside is everywhere you look you see yourself. I would say where I am the population is 90% BL.

Hit level 20 tonight. So much for the quest to hit 20 in 14 days. Smoked that one.
Anyways, when you hit level 18 as a BL you truly become a beast! The increase in power is amazing. Mobs were dropping at the sight of me.

Just read on the forums there are already a few level 90 Beastlords. Son of a............
I guess it was done by turning in collections. I cannot imagine hitting 90 in 24 hours any other way.
